By Asia Cloud Forum editors 08-Oct-2012

Luxury car, aircrafts and vessels manufacturer Rolls-Royce signed a five-year contract with HP to remotely manage its IT infrastructure.

By signing up for HP Enterprise Services, Rolls-Royce will host its IT applications from HP’s data centers in Singapore, the US and the UK.

Rolls-Royce will also remotely host its servers and storage in HP’s facilities in Brazil, Canada, France, Germany and Norway using HP’s infrastructure management tools.

“It is vital that our world-class products, services and people are supported by equally world-class IT,” said Simon Ricketts, Rolls-Royce’s CIO.

“The new contract with HP builds upon the relationship, and trust, that Rolls-Royce currently enjoys with HP. It represents the next step in our journey toward an industry-leading, multi-vendor IT ecosystem to support our current and future global business priorities,” Ricketts added.

Worldwide data center facilities

Rolls-Royce will manage its applications and data center infrastructure on HP’s data center facilities worldwide, while HP will provide maintenance and support services for the Rolls-Royce engineering, manufacturing, customer service and other back office and information management applications.

It is expected that Rolls-Royce will be able to significantly reduce its operating costs to manage its applications portfolio using HP’s applications management and support services.
