Veteran telecommunications leader joins hosted VoIP provider to support rapid growth
Telesphere, a leading provider of cloud-based Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) for businesses, today announced the appointment of Brent Bourne as chief operating officer. Bourne is a veteran senior executive with rich experience in VoIP and software-controlled systems at technology and telecommunications companies.
CEO Clark Peterson said Telesphere recruited Bourne, 44, a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, for the COO role to drive continued focus on automation and process enhancements to assure continued customer satisfaction while delivering a wide range of hosted business-communication services to enterprise customers across the United States.
Bourne, of Scottsdale, Ariz., oversees the day-to-day customer operations at Telesphere, including service delivery and customer service. In building a strategic vision for the company, he has implemented a model where measurement drives process improvement and positions the company to hold itself accountable and produce results that “wow” the customer.
Most recently, Bourne was at MetaSwitch Networks, where he was responsible for coordinating post-sales architecture, engineering, testing and implementation of critical hardware and software delivery projects for large telecommunications carriers that represented tens of millions of dollars in annual revenue. Previously, Bourne was COO of InfoArmor Inc. and IntelePeer Inc., and in a series of executive leadership positions of increasing responsibility at Level 3 Communications, LLC, including senior vice president for engineering and operations.
In addition to expanding its technical team, Telesphere is investing significantly in its national network to add sophisticated network points of presence (POPs) to key regions of the U.S. and connect them with high-capacity-bandwidth facilities. The company is expanding all dimensions of its network to enable the industry’s best scalability, performance and availability of its services, further positioning Telesphere to win the business of multi-location enterprise accounts, including those with employees working in home offices and on-the-go with smartphones, tablets or laptops.
The network expansion further enhances Telesphere’s market position as the nation’s largest pure-play provider of a rich array of advanced, all-IP business communications solutions in a hosted, or service-in-a-cloud, environment. The company’s proprietary back-office systems and on-demand online portals provide businesses with unparalleled privacy, security and control of their customized communications services.
